BOLD SUMMIT ATLANTA
7/17/2017 to 7/21/2017, all day
WHO?
Educators of color who are pursuing leadership roles within an independent school setting, as well as current administrators of color looking to take the next step.

WHAT?
Building Opportunities for Leadership Development - BOLD - is an annual gathering of passionate educators of color who are looking to grow in their careers and make an impact on education through leadership of an independent school. Participants will explore:
The leadership landscape in independent schools
Different leadership styles and identify their own
How to maximize strengths of each individual on a team
What it means to be an educational pioneer
Best leadership practices in an academic environment
WHY?
Currently, only 4% of independent schools are led by an educator of color, but changes in the independent school landscape are creating unprecedented opportunities to change this statistic. That’s where BOLD comes in. The BOLD Summit is focused on equipping educators of color with the tools and confidence to become the BOLD leaders of the future. As a result of the summit experience, BOLD participants will have a clear understanding of their own unique leadership style and will have the knowledge and skills necessary to accelerate their careers in independent school leadership. A great value add will be the strong, growing, and supportive network of BOLD cohorts that participants will have access to for support and encouragement in their leadership journeys.

WHERE?
The Galloway School in Atlanta, GA

Since its founding in 1969, The Galloway School has been a consistent beacon for progress in Atlanta. When Galloway first opened its doors, it was the only independent school in Atlanta to welcome all students regardless of race, ethnicity, or nationality, and the school remains committed to progressive ideals today. Located in Atlanta’s Chastain Park, the Galloway campus offers a beautiful environment that’s both invigorating and inspiring.

Atlanta is the embodiment of Southern hospitality, sophistication and progress. An international city with the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta served as host to the world during the 1996 Olympics and continues to draw scholars and leaders from around the world.
It is the only city in the nation where you can view two Nobel Peace Prizes – one located in the King Center and the other in the Carter Center. Having served as the spiritual center of the Civil Rights Movement, Atlanta is home to much of the Movement’s history including sites like Auburn Avenue, Ebenezer Baptist Church, the King Center, Atlanta University Center and more.

Together, Galloway and the City of Atlanta offer a winning combination for inspirational professional learning experiences that are unlike any other in the country. Don't miss your opportunity to be BOLD.
