Job Description/Responsibilities:
National Cathedral School (NCS) announces a search for an assistant director of communications. This position serves as the lead writer for the school’s print and digital publications, including NCS Magazine and the school website, and helps manage its social media channels.

The assistant director will identify stories that convey NCS’s unique character and how students, alumnae, faculty, and staff pursue the school’s mission and embody its core values; develop those ideas into compelling articles; use the school's social media channels to connect audiences with these published articles; and develop, in coordination with the director of communications, and direct an inbound-marketing strategy that encourages prospective families to inquire about admission.

The assistant director is part of a three-person communications department and will occasionally provide editing, photography, and videography, and otherwise support the department as needed. This position requires occasional work on weekends and evenings and being on call in the early morning.

NCS is committed to leadership in multicultural education and a culturally diverse faculty and staff. The school therefore seeks applications from candidates who will contribute to an atmosphere in which all are valued and supported.

National Cathedral School serves 585 students in grades 4 through 12. Faculty and staff are curious intellectually, flexible, collaborative, and view education as an engaging vocation. Students thrive in an intellectual environment and love to be challenged. NCS graduates are recognized as highly motivated and confident. Faculty and staff maintain a lively conversation about the meaning of an excellent education, an interest in pedagogy, and innovative uses of technology. As an Episcopal school, NCS welcomes people of all backgrounds and faiths while maintaining a close identity with Washington National Cathedral's commitment to being a house of prayer for all people. Located in Northwest Washington on 59 beautiful acres, the Cathedral Close is home to NCS, St. Albans School, and Beauvoir: The National Cathedral Elementary School.
