Job Description/Responsibilities:
Collegiate School seeks a Director of Afterschool Programs to be responsible for Kinder Quest (JK-Kindergarten), Cougar Quest (Grades 1-4) and Middle School Quest (Grades 5-6) programs providing afterschool care for Collegiate students. The time spent in these programs includes play, snack, instructional support and homework until 6:00 p.m. each day and all day on certain school holidays. The Director is an educational entrepreneur at heart and a collaborator with strong communication skills. Collegiate's customer service orientation is expected as interaction with parents is a key component of this position. Innovation and creativity are key to successfully and seamlessly transitioning the learning and enrichment experienced during the school day to after school. Planning and organization skills are a must as is the ability to supervise a staff while ensuring compliance with the State’s program licensure. This is an exempt, full-time, benefited, 12-month position.

Responsibilities also will include, but are not limited to:
• Develop and execute an on-going program which successfully and seamlessly transitions the learning and enrichment experienced during the school day to the afternoon; contribute to the care, growth, and development of the children enrolled in the program, including homework, unique environmental opportunities in KQ, field trips, enrichment and Friday clubs.
• Work with Collegiate community to establish relationships that will aid in the successful implementation of the goals and objectives of the program.
• Develop strategic working relationships with LS and MS Division Directors, faculty, as well as the Athletic, Fine Art, and Summer Quest Departments to create curriculum for all programs that extend learning and Collegiate standards through the after school programs.
• Regularly email and communicate with parents of students who attend KQ, CQ, MS Quest programs.
• Supervise and provide leadership training and techniques with Program Leaders for KQ, CQ, and MSQ. Have supervisory responsibility for all employees under these staff.
• Hire, train, supervise, mentor and provide feedback to the staff. Maintain the staff policy manual and keep it up to date with Collegiate and DSS standards.
• Work with Associate Director to schedule staff hours by the month, including day long care and late arrival mornings.
• Set emergency guidelines in accordance with the rest of the School and train staff in their implementation.
• Work with the Director of Auxiliary Services to develop an annual business plan including a yearly budget for all areas.
• Prepare reports providing analysis of the program’s future budgetary needs and present program income and expenses as requested by the Director of Auxiliary Services.
• Create registration materials in compliance with DSS regulations and enroll children in the program as space allows, verifying that student paperwork is completed and updated annually. Maintain student records (paper and computer) in compliance with DSS regulations.
• Provide an annual parent handbook that includes policies and procedures aligned with Lower School and Middle School divisions for consistency.
• Follow up on all recommendations made after annual health, fire, and DSS inspections. Provide a plan of action, as applicable.
• Observe general conditions and upkeep of the building and grounds and notify appropriate school personnel should repair or upkeep be needed.

Minimum Experience: 1-3 Years

Qualifications of a successful candidate will include:
• A graduate degree in a child-related field from an accredited college or university
• At least two years educational and programmatic experience in early childhood education
• At least one year in a staff supervisory capacity
• Strong skills in communication, collaboration and interaction
• Resourcefulness and a high degree of flexibility as well as problem solving and strategic planning abilities
• Proficiency in the use of technology for operational management, analysis and communication
• Leadership skills and integrity to effectively communicate and implement the School’s shared purpose and values; builds trust among colleagues; is accountable; and delivers on commitments
• Being a team player and a commitment to the School’s mission and values
• Possesses interpersonal skills conducive to positive interactions with the Collegiate community including division heads, faculty, staff, students and parents. Works in a cooperative manner that helps others to achieve their best.
• Ability to meet deadlines, demonstrate effective use of time and ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
• Willingness to acknowledge areas for growth; understands the need for growth and is receptive to constructive feedback and professional development
• Excellent communication skills with attention to detail
• Ability to maintain accurate records
• Adherence to all personnel policies, procedures and rules continued in the Faculty/Staff Handbook
• Positive and regular coordination with Director of Summer Quest and Associate Athletic Director
