Job Description/Responsibilities:
The Director of Music oversees all curricular aspects of music at Westover. The role includes directing two choral groups, overseeing ensemble group teachers and programming as well as an extensive private music lesson program, acting as musical director for the annual musical and advising the student-led a cappella group. Work with the other performing arts directors in drama and dance, respectively, will include general collaboration, setting schedules, and coordinating performances.

Music is part of the culture of Westover and this position will help coordinate music for our weekly non-denominational all-school chapel assembly, and supporting other traditions throughout the year. Additionally, there are opportunities to teach music electives, often co-taught with the Art History teacher, as well as AP Music Theory depending on the interest and inclination of the successful candidate.

The ideal candidate is one who possesses a B.A. and/or an advanced degree in Music and has at least three years of experience teaching, conducting, and/or performing choral music. Westover seeks teachers who are passionate about their subject and their pedagogy, who prioritize integrating diverse voices into their courses, and who collaborate with colleagues on departmental and school-wide objectives.
