Job Description/Responsibilities:
Oakwood Secondary School seeks applicants for a full-time middle and high school French teaching position. The course load would include multiple levels of French Language and Culture.

• Collaborates with World Language department colleagues and Department Chair to deliver a program that is consistent with school-wide expectations and standards
• Develops course syllabi and collaborates with fellow instructors
• Integrates authentic resources and technology into daily lessons
• Includes Integrated Performance Assessments at all levels
• Uses the target language as exclusively as possible (90% plus) at all levels during instructional time
• Keeps student records, including online grades
• Meets with students and families as needed
• Provides ongoing student feedback, both informal and formal, including written narrative evaluations
• Treats students equitably, is sincerely interested in them as individuals, and responds to their needs
• Engages and encourages students in the active process of learning
• Holds students accountable for their actions and their learning
• Holds high expectations for all students and communicates these expectations clearly and regularly
• Actively engages in the life of the school
• Participates in regular, purposeful pedagogy meetings and professional development based on the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages
Responds to evaluations from supervisors and students professionally and constructively
Minimum Degree: BA
Certification Required: No
Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years

• B.A. in French, or in the teaching of French, with native or near-native proficiency (Master’s Degree preferred)
• Prior teaching experience required
• Proficient technology skills
• Working knowledge of the ACTFL proficiency standards and currently teach to the three modes of communication
• Proven record of successful teaching the AP curriculum or willingness to focus on extensive preparation for success on the AP exam
• Committed to academic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, and exceptional progressive teaching with a focus on 21st century skills
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in both subject matter and methodology
