Job Description/Responsibilities:
The Fessenden School seeks a Director of Learning Resources to oversee academic support services for students in Pre-K through Grade 9. The director provides guidelines and establishes systems for departmental procedures and shared communication; maintains accurate records and data; partners with the Assistant Head of School, the school psychologist, the school counselor, division heads, and faculty; and models high professional standards.

Essential Functions
Manage the department’s budget and expenses.
Monitor summer tutoring conducted by the Learning Resources faculty and Fessenden faculty.
Review neuropsychological reports; write and post learning profiles in a regular and timely manner.
Observe students in their classrooms to ensure appropriate supports are in place.
Facilitate and monitor communication between Learning Resources faculty, parents, and classroom teachers.
Coordinate schedules for students and Learning Resources faculty.
Attend Middle School (Grades 5 and 6) team meetings, as well as Lower School (Pre-K-Grade 4) and Upper School (Grades 7-9) divisional meetings.
Serve as a consultant to the Admissions Office; read and review files, screen applicants, and speak with parents if needed.
Identify, organize, and/or lead professional development for Learning Resources Department faculty or other academic departments.
Collaborate with the Lower School division head, speech and language consultant, and occupational therapist.

Minimum Degree: Ed. M
Certification Required: No
Minimum Experience: 5-7 Years

Candidates should hold a master’s degree in language and literacy development or special education. They should be knowledgeable of a broad range of reading interventions, such as Wilson and Orton-Gillingham, and assessments including the CTOPP, Woodcock-Johnson, DIBELS, and Fountas and Pinnell. Qualified candidates should be organized, able to lead a team, flexible, and able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various constituents of the School.
