Job Description/Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Promote the best interests of each child in the Lower School within the context of the Mission Statement and the Founding Tenets.

Teach two sections of Language Lab (multisensory phonics instruction utilizing Take Flight curriculum) on a daily basis (2nd and 3rd grades)
Provide daily, small group, early intervention to first-grade students identified as at-risk for a language-based learning disorder
Administer and score various reading inventories and benchmarks on a periodic basis in an effort to monitor progress and/or response to intervention for identified students
Hold orientation meeting at the beginning of each academic year for parents of students new to Language Lab
Handle Language Lab correspondence
Meet with classroom teachers and parents at regularly scheduled parent conferences
Complete relevant report card comments for Language Lab students
Assist Lower School Counselor with student assessments, classroom observations, and individual accommodation plans
Attend relevant professional development opportunities to maintain academic language therapist certification
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Degree: BA
Certification Required: Yes
Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) with 2+ years of experience in direct intervention
Trained/proficient in the Take Flight dyslexia intervention program
Experienced with differentiation of instruction, particularly with students with learning differences
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Knowledge of twenty-first-century learning principles and techniques
Strong ability to partner effectively with staff and parents in a positive manner
