Job Description/Responsibilities:
Position Description: Roland Park Country School is dedicated to promoting and prioritizing the social, emotional, and mental wellness of its students. Through a holistic and collaborative approach, students are provided with mental health support for the duration of ther educational journey at RPCS. Additionally, the Counseling Department educates students in important and complex social and emotional learning topics through our robust K-12 wellness curriculum. Counselors work diligently and proactively through their teaching, our wellness programming and the connection of students to resources and community supports. They are also fully prepared to be responsive when crises arise. The Director of Counseling will serve as a leader, guide, and facilitator of the program and report to the Assistant Head of School for Academics. This role is full-time and the director will serve as the Lower School counselor as well as have overall responsibility for leading and directing the K-12 counseling team, wellness curriculum, and counseling program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The director of counseling will: • Serve as a trusted confidential counselor and resource for students and faculty dealing with social, emotional, and mental health issues • Provide counseling, crisis assessment and management for Lower School students and support to the Division Head in appropriate decision-making for those students • Provide referrals and collaborate with community mental health providers • Assist students and families in identifying resources for health and wellness • Hold regular meetings with the department to plan, strategize and collaborate • Oversee and manage documentation of all caseloads • Plan, coordinate and lead all internal and external programming for the department • Lead the Wellness Task Force • Provide regular supervision to support the licensing of current counseling team • Recruit, train and supervise interns • Conduct events and educational outreach for both the student and parent communities. • Attend conferences and professional meetings in order to remain current with industry trends. • Participate in division, department, and committee meetings as well as school-sponsored events that would benefit from your area of expertise. • Coordinate and manage the Peer Health Program and all wellness programming • Manage and update wellness curriculum across divisions • Teach and co-teach wellness classes with counseling team Core Qualifications • Master’s degree in counseling or a related field • Licensure/certification in Social Work, School Counseling, or Counseling • At least 5 years’ prior experience in school counseling • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a dedication to a high level of confidentiality • Excellent organizational skills • Detail-oriented and able to work collaboratively • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity • Technologically savvy Preferred Qualifications • Board certified as a supervisor in the State of Maryland • Exceptional written and oral communication • More than 5 years’ prior experience in school counseling • Experience working with international students School Philosophy Roland Park Country School, a college preparatory school for girls, is dedicated to the intellectual and moral development of its students. Qualifications:
