Job Description/Responsibilities:
The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a Director of STEM Programming to join a thriving school that is committed to providing a rigorous, relevant, and student-centered learning experience for every student we serve. Working from the Upper School STEM Center, the ideal candidate will spearhead STEM curriculum program alignment and innovation, combined with computer science, throughout grades Pre-K through 12. The position requires a person who is equally comfortable working with students as with adults. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching the whole child and will understand the value of contributing to the broader life of the school community, including advising, coaching, and leading extra-curricular activities. Responsibilities Reporting to the Head of Upper School, the Director of STEM Programming will be responsible for the following: • Teach Upper School courses and electives directly relating to technology literacy, computer science, physical computing (robotics), computer programming, and/or engineering. • Oversee the vertical alignment of the STEM curriculum and program for grades Pre-K through 12; guide the program curriculum in all STEM related areas. • Work in partnership with department leadership to update technology integration goals, curriculum, and integrate technology into projects and activities in a manner that enhances learning for students. • Collaborate with divisional counterparts to implement a coordinated STEM program and synchronize the engagement of project-based learning, design thinking, and inquiry-based experiences that utilizes different forms of technology. • Establish and support industry/community partnerships for students’ research, projects and internships. • Manage STEM summer programming and partnerships. • Provide educational technology education, training and support to faculty and students as needed. • Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.

Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years

Qualifications Experience, Skills & Knowledge • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Engineering or similar related field required; Master’s Degree preferred. • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience, ideally in an independent school setting. • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to complement daily instruction, including posting assignments and conducting online assessments. • Success in modeling effective use of relevant instructional and interactive technology in the teaching and learning process; demonstrated high competency in the use of Apple products, Google Suite for Education; Google Certified Educator preferred. • A successful track record of working effectively with a wide range of constituencies including students, faculty and staff. Compensation and Benefits This is a 12-month full-time exempt position available in July 2021.
