Job Description/Responsibilities:

Lake Forest Academy is seeking a full-time Instructor of Chemistry and Physics to begin in the fall of 2023. Additionally, this position will be expected to fulfill a full load in the co-curricular afternoon program, which is expected of all faculty at the Academy. Campus housing is a possibility, depending on availability, The school is deeply committed to a diverse faculty and student body. 


General overview of responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned four sections of Science courses (Chemistry and Physics)

  • Write formal comments on students four times per year and informal progress reports four times per year 

  • Meet with parents, as needed

  • Maintain a Professional Growth Plan in consultation with the department chair 

  • Fulfill Co-Curricular Expectation, often through coaching in the Athletic program.

  • If residential faculty, fulfill weeknight (once a week) and weekend (7) residential duties 

  • Serve as an Advisor or Co-Advisor to a small group of students

  • Serve on committees and task forces, as needed

Compensation/Benefits:

Lake Forest Academy offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes full medical and dental coverage, 403(b) retirement plan, and other benefits.  Final salary will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of the final appointed candidate.

Qualifications:

Preferred experience and/or education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required

  • Experience teaching a broad range of science courses including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Robotics, etc.

  • Experience working with a Robotics team
