Collegiate’s Lower School seeks a dedicated, dynamic, and experienced full-time Assistant Head of Lower School, grades K-4, to begin August 2023. General Summary:
Under the general direction of the Head of Lower School, the Assistant Head of Lower School is responsible for assisting in curriculum review and development, participating in faculty recruitment, hiring, supervision, and evaluation, and leading the mentoring program for Associate Teachers within the Lower School. The Assistant Lower School Head serves as the division leader in the Head’s absence. This position is also responsible for overseeing the administration of the afterschool program and its employees, working closely with the Afterschool director.
Essential Duties:
Assists the Head of Lower School in the daily operations and communications of the division;
Assists in curriculum development and review;
Participates in faculty recruitment process including screening of candidates, interviews, tours, reference checks and other hiring procedures;
Participates in the supervision of Lower School faculty including performance evaluations and feedback process;
Assists the Head of Lower School in planning meetings, presentations, and professional development offerings;
Regularly visits Lower School classrooms;
Teaches reading to Lower School students;
Participates in the Admissions and Enrollment process;
Serves as a member of the K-12 Academic Council;
Performs related duties as assigned.
