Phillips Academy seeks a full-time, continuing Instructor in
Philosophy and Religious Studies to begin in late August 2025. Candidates
should be prepared to teach a wide range of courses in philosophy and/or
religious studies. We would particularly give priority to candidates who could
teach courses such as Asian Religions, Global Buddhisms or alternately expand
our offerings to cover religious or philosophical traditions or approaches
beyond what we currently offer and which would serve our students well. Prospective
candidates are encouraged to review Phillips Academy’s Course
of Study for a sense of the department’s current offerings. Teaching
responsibilities will include three or four electives per ten-week trimester at
the introductory and upper levels (serving 10th-12th graders).
Phillips Academy is an intentionally diverse residential
school committed to creating an equitable and inclusive community in which
students from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences learn and grow
together. The ideal candidate supports this commitment. In your cover letter,
please address directly your experience and interest in working in such a
school community.
Phillips Academy is committed to equal employment
opportunity and providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with physical
and/or mental disabilities. We value and encourage diversity and solicit
applications from all qualified applicants without regard to race, color,
national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender
expression, gender identity, age, physical or mental disability, genetic
information, veteran status, military service, application for military service
or any other characteristic protected by law. Any
offers of employment will be contingent upon successful CORI/SORI and
fingerprinting background checks, as well as unrestricted authorization to work
in the United States.
