Job Description/Responsibilities:
Durham Academy (DA) is accepting applications for a full-time Middle School French Teacher to begin August 2025. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, although an advanced degree or other commensurate experience is preferred.  Candidates should be able to teach French to students with varying levels of proficiency. Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with teaching in the ACTFL framework and giving feedback in a competency-based system. Regardless of proficiency in either of these approaches, candidates should be willing to learn about how to incorporate them into their practice. A passion for working with middle school students is a requisite.  This position reports to the Middle School Director. 
 
Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Teaching four sections of Middle School French courses, including instructional design and curriculum development 
  • Collaborate closely with other World Languages teachers
  • Serving as a Middle School Advisor for 10-12 students 
  • Carry out required supervisory duties
  • Participate in professional collaboration groups such as grade-level teams and task forces
