The Savannah Country
Day School seeks a creative, innovative, and energetic 8th-grade English
teacher to join our learning community for the 2025–2026 academic year. This
full-time position includes teaching five sections of English and serving as an
eighth-grade advisor. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about
helping students explore literature, language, and self-expression through
diverse pedagogical approaches. The ideal candidate promotes the development of
students' communication skills and integrates a wide range of literature,
writing genres, research techniques, and oral presentation opportunities into
the curriculum, all while fostering critical thinking and curiosity. A strong
command of literary analysis, writing instruction, and grammar mechanics is
essential.
Successful
candidates will possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and
demonstrate a collaborative spirit with a willingness to pursue
interdisciplinary teaching opportunities. Comfort with integrating technology
into instruction is highly valued. A desire to engage in reflective dialogue
about teaching practices and to participate actively in the life of the
school—both in and out of the classroom—is expected.

Demands:
Work
is typically performed in a classroom environment with intermittent sitting,
standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or
carries objects of light-medium weight, up to 25 pounds. Full range of hand and
finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
