Convent of the Sacred Heart is New York City's oldest independent school for girls. Middle School Social Studies Teacher Full-Time Beginning November 2025 - June 2026
Position: Middle School Social Studies - Grades 7 and 8 Reports to: Middle School Division Head and Department Chair FLSA: Exempt, full-time Salary Range: Prorated, based on an annualized salary of $67,500 - $100,000, commensurate with education and experience
The Middle School Social Studies teacher will join a highly collaborative, innovative, and experienced faculty. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in middle school education and the ability to relate and communicate effectively and appropriately with middle school female students.

Qualifications:
Responsibilities:- Teach 7th Grade Social Studies: comparative study of ancient Athens and New York City.
- Teach 8th Grade Social Studies: American History. Both courses develop students' understanding of history from multiple perspectives and use primary sources to enhance students' analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Provide academic support for students outside of class time by answering homework questions and consulting with them as needed.
- Attend department and faculty meetings.
- Support the students and division by covering homeroom, study halls, lunch duties, and other assignments as needed
Requirements and Qualifications:- Undergraduate history major
- Master’s degree. History, social science, or teaching major preferred
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Candidate should be open to STEM collaboration and be comfortable with using technology and various scientific tools to enhance students’ learning
- Proficiency with current educational technology, especially blended learning platforms and strategies.
- Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to anti-racist, anti-bias education, multicultural teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
- Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school
