Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic science teacher for grades 9-12 capable of teaching all levels of chemistry and physics beginning in the 2026-27 school year. This is a 1.0, benefits-eligible position. Applicant review will begin Dec. 15. 


Essential Responsibilities

-Teach four sections of a combination of chemistry, physics and possibly advanced science electives at various levels in the Upper School (grades 9-12) 
-Advise a group of 10-12 students
-Hold conferences with students and parents in the fall and spring and write narrative comments for each student at the end of each semester
-Participate in departmental, divisional and all-school initiatives and meetings 


Salary Range

This position has a starting salary of $56,000-$85,000. This salary range includes the expected annual salary for this position. In making a salary determination, we consider professional experience, applicable qualifications and other job-related factors. Based on these factors, a candidate's salary offer could exceed this range.

Certification Required: No
Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years

 
Qualifications:
-Undergraduate degree in science, science education or a related field with a strong preference for candidates who hold—or are actively pursuing—an advanced degree in a relevant discipline
-Substantial professional experience in science education with preference given to candidates who have taught at the upper school (grades 9–12) level
-Experience teaching STEM subjects with a solid foundation in climate literacy along with familiarity with modeling instruction and other inquiry-based pedagogies
