Employer Description

The mission of The Chiles Academy is to combine a community of support and guidance for pregnant and parenting students with the goal of attaining a high school diploma, which will empower them to become independent and responsible citizens. We are a group of dedicated group of professionals who educate pregnant and parenting middle and high school students and their children, we are a community that focuses on the holistic needs of everyone, without sacrificing the high expectations we have of ourselves and our students. The statistics you’ve heard are true: only about 50% of teen parents will earn their high school diploma. When enrolled in our program, teen parents have a higher chance of graduation than the national average, with up to 80% of our seniors crossing the stage to finish high school. How do we achieve this? As a public charter school in our 24th year, we partner with the local school district to ensure our students have access to critical resources while operating under the governance of our own board of directors. As a certified teacher at The Chiles Academy, you will be able to develop and implement standards-based, student-responsive curriculum for a broad variety of learners. Your students attend school while their children attend our on-site early learning center, ensuring the opportunity to educate, influence, and support multiple generations at once.

Diversity Mission Statement

At The Chiles Academy, we believe diversity is a strength and equity is a responsibility. We are committed to cultivating an inclusive learning community that honors the identities, cultures, lived experiences, and voices of every child, family, staff member, and community partner we serve. We intentionally work to dismantle barriers to access and opportunity by recruiting and retaining diverse educators and leaders, embedding culturally responsive practices into teaching and curriculum, and fostering environments where children see themselves reflected, valued, and empowered. Our approach recognizes that meaningful inclusion requires ongoing reflection, data-informed decision-making, and shared accountability. Guided by our mission to prepare students for both personal fulfillment and civic contribution, we center relationships, social-emotional development, and community engagement as essential components of equity. Through authentic partnerships, continuous improvement, and a commitment to representation and belonging, The Chiles Academy strives to ensure that every learner and educator has the support, opportunity, and voice needed to thrive.
