Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotte Country Day is a school people name when they are listing America's greatest independent schools. Founded in 1941, CCDS is the oldest and largest independent, coeducational college preparatory school in the area and the eighth largest in the country.
Located on two campuses in south Charlotte with an enrollment over 1,650 students in grades JK through 12, the school is a place where learning of the highest caliber is an every day occurrence. Recognized for its academic excellence, acclaimed international studies program, state-of-the-art technological resources, and opportunities in arts, athletics, community service, and leadership, Charlotte Country Day is a place where young people become critical thinkers and problem solvers, and where lifelong friendships are formed.

Technology 
Students and faculty have easy, high-speed access to the Internet from all classrooms, computer labs, libraries, and administrative offices. There are approximately 700 computers in curricular use school wide, and faculty members have school-subsidized laptops. Students and faculty use wireless cards in their laptops to connect to the network.

Community Service 
Community service is an integral part of a Charlotte Country Day education and plays an important role in shaping the character of our students. Children at every level, from JK to grade 12, give back to the community in hundreds of ways big and small. From collecting books for underprivileged children, to pet therapy with senior citizens, to annually hosting the Special Olympics spring games, our students fully understand that privilege and service go hand in hand.

International Studies 
Charlotte Country Day offers an exceptionally broad-based international studies curriculum that is integrated across disciplines and grade levels. Since 1992 more than 700 students and teachers have participated in study abroad programs, and over 450 CCDS families have hosted a foreign student in their home.

International Baccalaureate Program 
Country Day was the first school in North Carolina to offer an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma and since 1992 has offered IB courses to juniors and seniors.

Athletics 
The school fields 72 sports teams with an average of 90 percent of our students participating in some form of organized athletics on the middle school, junior varsity, or varsity level. The full-participation athletic program offers students the opportunity to play on sports teams from grades 7-12.

Arts 
A broad arts program is offered with courses in visual arts, choral and instrumental music, dance, and drama. Students participate in more than 70 arts performances and events each year.

Applications to the school are reviewed on the basis of character, intellectual ability, emotional maturity, curiosity, and breadth of interests. The school does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, color, handicap, or national or ethnic origin in its admissions program.

Extended Day 
Extended Day hours are offered to children in grades JK–8. Before-school and after-school hours are provided.

Summer Program 
CCDS offers academic and enrichment programs during the summer, as well as sports camps for ages 4–18.
