Alexandria Country Day School isa unique K-8 independent school founded in 1983, seven miles from downtown Washington, DC, that inspires creativity, enthusiasm for learning, and leadership while promoting interaction among grade levels.   The school celebrated its campus expansion in 2010 by adding new facilitiesincluding a regulation-sized gymnasium, a dining hall, a dedicated performing arts center, renovated office space and a new playground. These facilities complete the campus of the 29-year old school and enhance the academic and athletic programs.

ACDS offers a nurturing environment for our students and a welcoming community for our families.  Respect, responsibility, and citizenship are cornerstones of the ACDS experience.  Students are encouraged to build leadership skills in many ways such as participating in Student Council, Honor Council, class meetings, sports teams, and as Peer Mediators or Admissions Ambassadors.Through buddy activities, community service projects, and daily classroom experiences, students learn to respect and appreciate differences. In addition, ACDS teachers create an environment of high expectations while respecting the dignity of each student. 

Our goal is to promote graduates who are independent learners and actively engage in the acquisition of academic, athletic, and artistic skills; communicators who can effectively exchange ideas, experiences and knowledge; community-minded with the skills to understand and empathize with others; who exhibit moral courage and stand up for the interests and well-being of the greater community; and who are open to opportunities and risk.
