Founded in 1896 on Manhattan's Upper West Side, The Calhoun School is a progressive co-educational, independent, college preparatory day school that serves students from 2 years 8 months through 12th grade.

Calhoun inspires a passion for learning through a progressive approach to education that values intellectual pursuit, creativity, diversity and community involvement.

Calhoun enrolls approximately 700 students ranging from early childhood through Upper School. Student-Teacher Ratio is 7:1. Average class size is 12-15 students.

Locations and Facilities
Calhoun's main building, which houses 3rd-12th grades and most administrative offices, is located at 433 West End Avenue, at 81st Street. The Robert L. Beir Building, which houses the preschool-2nd grade, is located at 160 West 74th Street near Amsterdam Avenue.
