Employer Description

About Us: Glen Urquhart School (GUS), is an independent, coeducational day school for students in Pre-K through grade eight. Located 45 minutes north of Boston in Beverly Farms, GUS was founded in 1977 with an experiential, thematic, place-based philosophy that integrates all subjects and creates opportunities for students to be passionate in their pursuit of knowledge.

Our Mission: Through the joys of learning, we inspire young people to be engaged and curious stewards of the world around them.

Our Vision: To empower a generation of young people to do better.

What is doing better? Maya Angelou is famously quoted for saying “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” This sentiment rings true for us in all we do here at GUS, as we strive as a school and as individuals to always be our best selves. As a result, the learning never stops - for students and for faculty. A progressive education truly centered on young people necessitates a constant need for evolution. As young people and our world change, so does GUS. Together, we are continually learning and growing, creating hope that the next generation will truly do better.

Equal Opportunity Employer: Glen Urquhart School is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion or creed, national or ethnic origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, genetic background, age, disability, or military service in its hiring, employment or other programs and activities.

Diversity Mission Statement

Our commitment: Mean well. Speak well. Do well. Do Better.

Guided by our philosophy that children thrive in a nurturing environment where their ideas, feelings, and thoughts are valued, we work to sustain a school where each member of our community feels they can share their whole self with their classmates, teachers, and family members and be safe, known, and included. In doing so, we strive to protect the dignity and worth of every member of our community, and see our school fully realize its mission, purpose, and place.

Embedded in our mission is an understanding that the more diverse our community is, the stronger and more insightful, creative, reflective, and joyful it will be. To that end, we are committed to fostering an open and welcoming community, and we actively seek students, faculty, and staff members who represent the diversity of race, ethnicities, faiths, gender and gender identities, sexual orientations, disabilities, family structures, and socio-economic backgrounds that exist in the North Shore and beyond.
