Advanced Placement courses

Nineteen Advanced Placement courses are taught in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, English, European History, French, Latin, Physics, Psychology, Spanish, Statistics, U.S. Government and Politics, and U.S. History. In 2014-2015, 136 students took 245 AP exams. 72% scored 3 or higher.

Over the last five years (2010-2014), an average of 5 percent of KCD's graduating class has qualified as National Merit Semifinalists, meaning that their SAT scores place them in the top 1.5 percent of Kentucky students.

KCD seniors are routinely accepted at some of the nation’s top colleges. Perhaps more importantly, each year nearly 80% of graduating seniors report being accepted at their first-choice school.

Fine Arts

KCD offers a fine arts program for all students in junior kindergarten through twelfth grade, including classes in visual art, drama and play production, and choral and instrumental music.


KCD has numerous middle school, junior varsity, and varsity athletic teams. Over seventy-five percent of students in grades five through twelve participate in at least one sport. View a current list of our athletic teams.

The tuition and fee schedule for the 2015-2016 school year is

JK:       $10,650    -     $825 per 12 months after $1000 deposit
K:         $14,300  -     $1130 per 12 months after $1000 deposit
1–4:     $17,950  -    $1334 per 12 months after $1000 deposit
5:          $19,450  -    $1558 per 12 months after $1000 deposit
6–12:     $19,950  -     $1600 per 12 months after $1000 deposit

KCD’s financial aid budget for the 2015-16 school year is over $2.5 million. Approximately 24 percent of students received some form of aid, with an average distribution of $10,375.


KCD is accredited through the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. KCD is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the Louisville Independent School Coalition.
