Advanced Placement courses

Eighteen Advanced Placement courses are taught in Biology, Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Language and Literature, French, Latin, Music Theory, Physics, Psychology, Spanish, Statistics, Studio Art 2D and 3D, U.S. Government and Politics, and U.S. History. In 2018-2019, 146 students took 281 AP exams. 79% scored 3 or higher.

Over the last five years (2015-2019), an average of 7 percent of KCD's graduating class has qualified as National Merit Semifinalists, meaning that their SAT scores place them in the top 1.5 percent of Kentucky students.

KCD seniors are routinely accepted at some of the nation’s top colleges. Perhaps more importantly, each year nearly 80% of graduating seniors report being accepted at their first-choice school.

Fine Arts

KCD offers a fine arts program for all students in junior kindergarten through twelfth grade, including classes in visual art, drama and play production, and choral and instrumental music.


KCD has numerous middle school, junior varsity, and varsity athletic teams. Over seventy-five percent of students in grades five through twelve participate in at least one sport. View a current list of our athletic teams.
