Toledo School for the Artsis a public community school whose charge is focused on the visual andperforming arts. The School opened inSeptember 1999 and is located in Toledo, Ohio. TSA is a public school that accepts enrollment of any Ohio student ingrades 6 – 12 with no tuition costs, up to its enrollment limitations.
In addition to coreacademic subjects, classes are offered in dance, music, theater and visualarts. TSA offers students opportunitiesto work with professional artists to expand their art experiences andknowledge. TSA has “ARTnerships” withToledo’s major cultural institutions, such as the Performing Arts Council ofToledo, Toledo Ballet, Toledo Opera, Toledo Repertoire Theatre, the ToledoSymphony, WGTE-TV, Trinity Church, the Toledo Zoological Gardens, and theToledo Museum of Art, as well as COSI (Center of Science and Industry anInteractive Museum), the Valentine Theater, and the Toledo-Lucas County PublicLibrary.
TSA provides traditionaleducation in a non-traditional environment. The School is located in downtown Toledo and the students consider thedowntown to be the TSA campus. TSAoperates out of its own space located at 333 – 14th Street. The approximately 50,000 square feet of spacewas purchased and renovated in the summer of 2004 with classrooms, computerlabs, dance, music and acting studios, art rooms and rehearsal spaces. All rooms are wired for connectivity to theInternet.
