Miami Country Day School was founded in 1938 as a residential proprietary boarding school for boys through the 8th grade and has evolved remarkably of the past 67 years. The School has become a coeducational, nonprofit, interdenominational school with over 1000 students in junior kindergarten through grade 12 representing approximately 27 countries. The school's first twelfth grade graduating class was in 1981. The school is located in the northeast part of Miami in a residential section of the metropolitan area.
The education of the whole person, including the six potentials: intellectual, spiritual, social, aesthetic, physical, and emotional is fostered within a strong college preparatory program.
In addition to the academic graduation requirements, MCDS students are required to complete 30 hours of community service per year. All seniors do a senior project in the final weeks of the senior year. Numerous clubs and activities in addition to a full athletic program are offered to all students.
