Oakwood Friends School is a Quaker, college-preparatory,coeducational, boarding and day school serving 140 students in grades6-12. We have a 60-acre campus that includes academic,administrative, arts and athletic facilities, dormitories, a dining hall, 28faculty housing units, lawns, fields, woods, and a small wetland. Our college preparatorycurriculum is rigorous, creative, and responsive to student needs and theinterests and talents of our teachers. Classes are small andstudents and teachers know each other well, both within and beyond theclassroom. Students and teachers address each other by first names. We offer afull range of interscholastic and “life” sports, and the school participates inthree different athletic leagues. Our arts programs are strong aswell. We meet daily as a full school community for a 15-minute “Collection”each morning and weekly for Meeting for Worship in the Quakertradition. Quaker values inform our work and community life, and,consistent with Quakers’ belief in acceptance and inclusion, our schoolcommunity is religiously, racially, and economically diverse. Allfaculty are actively involved in the life of the school and in duties beyondthe classroom. Our students come from the local region, severalnearby states, and in a few cases, from the west coast and abroad. Our community is warm, welcoming, and comfortable.
