Employer Description

Church Hill Academy is a fully accredited, private, Christian high school and part of the nonprofit organization Church Hill Activities & Tutoring (CHAT). Our shared mission is to serve the youth of East End Richmond and equip them with the heart, head, and hands to make life-transforming decisions. Church Hill Academy is also a member of the StreetSchool Network and is fully accredited through Virginia Association of Independent Schools.

Church Hill Academy equips students to achieve academic success, develop character, and serve the community. Since 2007, we’ve provided individualized and holistic education in a safe and engaging learning environment. We strive to educate the whole student through programs encompassing academic rigor, career preparation, life-skills building, economic literacy, and spiritual development.

Church Hill Academy is a place for students who will thrive from individualized attention, an emphasis on relationships and community, a dedication to Christian beliefs, and an interest in healthy and positive character development. Church Hill Academy is a faith based organization, but students and families of all or no faith are welcome. All students must meet our low-income eligibility requirements.

As our students progress through grade levels, they’re given opportunities for leadership, challenges to help them grow and mature, and support from a nurturing environment. We strive to equip students to serve their communities and live fulfilling lives. A part of this holistic education is our value on emotional and mental health. We partner with Elk Hill to provide eligible students with therapeutic day treatment therapy and outpatient counseling. We also have a full-time school counselor on staff. Our small but mighty size is our greatest asset. We boast an 8:1 student to teacher ratio, and each student is surrounded by caring adults who honor them. We make sure no student falls through the cracks.

Currently, we have 62 alumni, many of whom have continued on to postsecondary education. CHA graduates have been accepted to and have attended Norfolk State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Mary Baldwin College, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Fortis College, Butler University, Richard Bland College, John Tyler Community College, Longwood University, Chowan University, Old Dominion University, University of Mary Washington, and James Madison University. Additionally, some students have applied and were accepted into the VA Job Corps to begin hands-on training in many technical career fields.
