Southwest Christian School (SCS) is an independent, interdenominational, Christian college preparatory school. Founded in 1969, SCS offers classes in the divisions of Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K), Elementary School (K- Grade 6), Middle School (Grades 7-8) and High School (Grades 9-12). The Chisholm Trail Campus accommodates students in Pre-K through Grade 6. Students in Grades 7-12 attend classes at the Lakeside Campus. SCS does not modify curriculum. However, academic support services are available to students with diagnosed learning differences. SCS nurtures the development of interests through opportunities in advanced academics, athletics, fine arts, organizations, leadership and community service, all in an atmosphere of Christian values.
The mission of Southwest Christian School is to provide a Christ-centered, college preparatory education that graduates young adults equipped as Christian leaders in the world. This statement embodies our purpose and is the foundation and starting point for everything we do and every decision that we make.
Academically ExcellentWe are preparing our students to be leaders in a rapidly changing world. Our nationally-recognized and award-winning curriculum is built around pertinent ideas, creative problem-solving strategies and purposeful practice. Multi-leveled, developmentally appropriate instruction prepares our students to reach their full potentials. In high school, more than a dozen Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 20 Dual Credit courses provide advanced learning opportunities. Our teachers are content specialists who collaborate to provide integrated programming that addresses the challenges of individualized instruction and collaborative learning. Nearly seventy percent of our faculty has advanced degrees and we offer tuition assistance to any teacher pursing advanced degrees.
Globally Minded We are recognized nationally and internationally for our global education initiatives. Chinese and Spanish language instruction support cultural competencies through our broad international studies programming. In addition to focused study of world cultures, macro-economics, ecology and world politics, we offer a mini-mester program in which students have the opportunity for local, national and international travel. Recent trips have included mission efforts in Africa and Central America, school visits in China, language immersion in Spain, and cultural studies in Europe.
Distinctively ChristianOur biblically integrated curriculum is taught by teachers who daily model the Christian life and reinforce the values of home and church. We are preparing our students to be global leaders using a biblical world view to form foundational understandings of responsible, proactive citizenship. Questions of human dignity, spiritual identity, responsibility to self, family and community are integrated into all content areas.
