Diversity Mission Statement

At Fay School, diversity is an asset, an experience, and a process. We work actively to integrate multiple perspectives into our curriculum and our community life with ongoing attention to the diversity of our families, faculty, and staff. We believe that a broad range of experiences and viewpoints enhances learning and enriches life. This statement of diversity and inclusion affirms the value and importance of the many perspectives and life experiences that inform our thoughts and guide our actions as we live and work together each day.

Fay School respects differences in culture and linguistic heritage, ethnicity, race, religion, socio-economic level, family structure, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, age, and developmental stages. We strive to maintain a school community in which every member feels valued and is treated with dignity. We are a school of many races, languages, ages, national origins, religions. We are a school of boys and girls, men and women, and transgender people. Our families come in many different varieties. We celebrate many traditions and learn about many more. Some families pay full tuition and others receive tuition assistance. We have straight, gay, lesbian, and questioning students, teachers, staff, and parents. Some of our students learn in typical ways, and others have unique learning styles. We are all part of Fay.

Students and adults at Fay work to develop the skills and competencies necessary for meaningful engagement with others in our increasingly interconnected world. In a spirit of service to each other and to the broader community, we are committed to promoting intentional reflection on the differences that enrich our lives, and we challenge ourselves to grow in sensitivity, courage, and a sense of justice. Our teachers and staff work toward these goals with joy and full investment, and each member of our community strives to encounter others with openness, attentiveness, and honesty.
