St. John's Episcopal School is dedicated to a program of academic excellence designed to train the mind, strengthen the character, and enrich the spirit of each student in a Christian environment.
St. John's is a fully accredited pre-k through eighth grade coeducational school in East Dallas. Created as an outreach of St. John's Episcopal Church in 1953, we are the oldest Episcopal school in Dallas. The school is accredited by both the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES), both of which are members of the National Association of Independent Schools' (NAIS) Commission on Accreditation.
Our academic program is age-appropriate and allows students to progress naturally and confidently. In lower school, we harness children's innate curiosity while cementing essential knowledge and skills. In middle school, we provide more vigorous challenges as students become more abstract, self-aware thinkers.
We have also designed an environment that allows kids to be kids. Without an upper school, students are not pressured to grow up too soon. Our students further benefit from the opportunity to take an active role in deciding which upper school they will attend, a process that may help them select a college later in life. We guide students in researching upper schools, preparing for interviews, and deciding which high school best fits their interests. Allowing a child to weigh in which high school they will attend empowers them to take greater ownership of their success. St. John's graduates leave as well-prepared, grounded, and confident leaders sought by the area's best upper schools.
