Diversity Mission Statement
|
|
East Longmeadow Public Schools (ELPS) is a district that values diversity of thought, leadership, and representation. We prioritize inclusivity, embrace diversity, and promote an equitable approach toward meeting the needs of every child in our district. It is our belief that to make education equitable, we must exhibit anti-racism within the classroom, across professional development opportunities, and to our families. As a result, every ELPS student will develop the knowledge and critical thinking skills that will ensure them success across post-secondary experiences, career trajectory, and to be prepared for adult-life as a responsible and active citizen. In action, this is demonstrated in the following SMART goals:
•ELPS staff will create a safe, nurturing, and equitable and inclusive learning/working environment in which students are supported in developing the knowledge, skills and the mindset to become resilient and culturally-proficient citizens.
• ELPS teachers will support students through providing 21st Century learning experiences and creating an inclusive learning environment rooted in Universal Design for Learning and Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy.
• All students will be challenged and supported to achieve a high standard of academic performance and growth through the implementation of a standards-based instructional program aligned to MA Curriculum Frameworks.
