Employer Description

The Saklan School is a small, progressive, independent, non-profit school accredited by WASC and CAIS. Saklan serves grades preschool through eighth grade, with one class per grade level. Our mission is to challenge students to think creatively, act compassionately, and live courageously. Our community centers the mission in all that we do, with our goal to produce well-rounded, confident, self-aware, critical thinkers. Students at Saklan learn to collaborate with others, advocate for themselves, and become aware of their strengths and challenges. Graduates move on to high school well-prepared, self-assured, and comfortable with themselves.

Our average class size is twelve in the Lower School (K-5). Our classroom teachers are solo practitioners who value the importance that connection and social-emotional well-being play in a student's growth. Saklan School leverages hands-on learning and field work to engage learners and aspires to be the preeminent project-based school in the Bay Area.

Social-emotional learning and connection are a priority.

Overview of Position

The Saklan School is currently seeking a Kindergarten teacher. Candidates must be fluent in progressive educational theory and practices, be culturally competent, and have previous classroom teaching experience. We are seeking candidates who are reliable, adaptable and have a nurturing and supportive tone with students.
